Life Story for William Taylor "Bill" Shoemaker

William Taylor "Bill"  Shoemaker
Mr. William Taylor "Bill" Shoemaker, age 76, of Markland, Indiana, entered this life on March 29, 1942, in Middleburg, Kentucky. The loving son of the late, Ernest Taylor and Alvena (Douglas) Shoemaker. He was raised in Casey County, Kentucky until middle school and later moved to Pewee Valley, Kentucky. He was a 1962 graduate of the Indiana Academy in Cicero, Indiana. Bill was inducted into the United States Army on February 10, 1964, in Louisville, Kentucky, serving during the Vietnam War. Bill received the Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on February 9, 1966, in Fort Monroe, Virginia. Bill was united in marriage on December 30, 1978, in Pewee Valley, Kentucky, to Mona Burkhalter. This happy union was blessed was a daughter, Amanda. Bill enjoyed carpentry and was a self-employed carpenter all of his life. Bill resided in Markland, Indiana since November 1997, where he enjoyed restoring the two story brick home where he currently resided with his loving wife. He was a Kentucky Colonel and enjoyed hunting, fishing and construction work and will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends. Bill passed away at 10:53 a.m., Sunday, November 4, 2018, at his residence in Markland, Indiana.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Mona (Burkhalter) Shoemaker of Markland, IN; his daughter, Amanda Foster and her husband: Philip of Alexandria, KY; his grandchildren, Derek Taylor Foster, Leeann Nalley, Victoria Hope and Braelyn Bland; his sister, Jean Ayars and her husband: Jim of Simi Valley, CA; his nephew, David Lantern and his nieces, Melinda Jenkins, Deanna Johnson and Christy Hope.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Taylor and Alvena (Douglas) Shoemaker.

The Celebration of Bill's Life will be conducted on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., by Pastor Jim Ayars, at the Pewee Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church, 103 La Grange Road Pewee Valley, Kentucky 40056.
