Life Story for Orkey White (Young)
Mrs. Orkey (Young) White, age 86, of Dayton, Ohio, entered this life on July 11, 1932, in Hazard, Kentucky, the loving daughter of the late, Alton Elwood and Ida Mae (Ritchie) Young. She was raised in Hazard, Kentucky and attended the Carr Creek School in Vicco, Kentucky. Orkey was united in marriage on June 17, 1968, in Milan, Indiana, to Edward Ross "Jack" White. This happy union was blessed with six children. Orkey and Jack shared nearly 51 years of marriage together until her death. Orkey was employed on the assembly line and in housekeeping for General Motors in Dayton, Ohio, retiring in 1997, after 20 years of service. Orkey will be remembered for her love of traveling and playing bingo. Orkey passed away at 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at the Waters of Batesville in Batesville, Indiana.
Orkey will be deeply missed by her husband, Edward Ross "Jack" White of Dayton, OH; her daughters, Delores Ann Brooks and her husband, Jim of Dayton, OH, Mary Sue Hoffman of St. Leon, IN, Marsha Darlene Laflin and her husband, Bob of Indianapolis, IN and Lisa Leann Creager and her husband, Greg of Dayton, OH; her sons, Ross Edward White of Amissville, VA and Douglas William White of Stanley, VA; her 12-grandchildren; her 11-great-grandchildren; her brothers, Elwood Young of Maysville, OH and Harold Dean Young of Tipp City, OH and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton Elwood and Ida Mae (Ritchie) Young; her son, Brian Dewayne White; her son-in-law, Jerry Hoffman; her 2-grandchildren; her brother, Ollie James Young and her sisters, Thelma King and Charity Bowling.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 27, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., by Rev. Mike Jones at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
