Life Story for Mona Shoemaker (Burkhalter)

Mrs. Mona (Burkhalter) Shoemaker, age 75, of Markland, Indiana, entered this life on November 7, 1943, in Kokomo, Indiana, the loving daughter of the late, Maurice and Mona (Walker) Burkhalter. She was raised in Corbin, Kentucky and was a 1962 graduate of the Indiana Academy in Cicero, Indiana. Mona attended classes at Sullivan College in Louisville, Kentucky for accounting. Mona was united in marriage on December 30, 1978, in Pewee Valley, Kentucky, to the late, William Taylor "Bill" Shoemaker. This happy union was blessed with a daughter, Amanda. Mona and Bill shared nearly 40 years of marriage together until he passed away on November 4, 2018. She attended the Pewee Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church in Pewee Valley, Kentucky. Mona and Bill resided in Markland, Indiana, since November 1997, where Bill enjoyed restoring their two story brick home. Mona was a wonderful homemaker and provided child care for several years and will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends. Mona passed away at 1:33 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2019, at the St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, Kentucky.

Mona will be remembered by her daughter, Amanda Foster and her husband, Philip of Alexandria, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Derek Taylor Foster, Leeann Nalley, Victoria Hope and Braelyn Bland; her sister, Jane Ann Rambert of California; her sister-in-law, Jean Ayars and her husband: Jim of Simi Valley, California and her nieces and nephew, Melinda Jenkins, Deanna Johnson and Christy Hope and David Lanter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Mona (Walker) Burkhalter and her husband, William Taylor "Bill" Shoemaker, died November 4, 2018.

A Celebration of Mona's Life will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at 4:00 p.m., by Pastor Bryan Banos, at the Pewee Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church, 103 La Grange Road Pewee Valley, Kentucky 40056.
