Life Story for Larry Wayne Boggs

Larry Wayne  Boggs
Mr. Larry Wayne Boggs, age 75, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on February 7, 1943, at home in Switzerland County, Indiana, the loving son of the late, Edward Sinclair and Hazel Juanita (Sigmon) Boggs. Larry was a 1960 graduate of the Vevay High School and earned his associates degree from Miller Business School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Larry was inducted into the United States Army on March 26, 1964, in Madison, Indiana, serving during the Vietnam War. Larry earned the marksman badge and was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class on October 31, 1969 in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Larry was united in marriage on December 27, 1968, at the Quercus Grove United Methodist Church, to Janet E. Cook. This happy union was blessed with two sons, Michael and Mark. Larry and Janet shared nearly 50 loving years of marriage together until his death. Larry owned and operated Boggs Tax Service in Vevay, Indiana, for over 50 years. Larry was employed as an auditor for the Indiana Department of Revenue, from 1965 - 1979. He owned operated the Swiss Supermarket in Vevay, Indiana, from 1979 - 1985. Larry owned and operated the Benedict Coal-Oil Business in Vevay, Indiana, from 1974 - 1979. Larry was a member of the Switzerland Baptist Church, Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. He was a member of the Switzerland Masonic Lodge No. 122 F&AM, for 49 years. Larry resided all of his life in the Switzerland County community. Larry enjoyed attending sporting events, spending time with his children and grandchildren, tinkering on his F150 pickup truck in his garage, playing euchre, bowling, boating and skiing. Larry passed away at 12:27 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2018, at the Highpoint Health in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

Larry will be deeply missed by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Janet E. (Cook) Boggs of Vevay, IN; his sons, Michael Boggs and his wife: Christy of Johnson City, TN and Mark Boggs and his wife: LeeAnn of Vevay, IN; his grandchildren, Austin Boggs, Kyle Neubert, Katy Neubert, Alec Boggs, Carlee Boggs, and Claire Boggs; his great-granddaughter, Amelia Boggs; his brother, Jerry Boggs and his wife: Linda of Bonita Springs, FL; his sister, Dawn Elston and her husband: Dillion of Pendleton, IN; his sisters-in-law, Donna Johnson and her husband: Ernie of Rising Sun, IN, Lois Cook of Sellersburg, IN and Shirley Cook of Lawrenceburg, IN and his numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sinclair Boggs, died November 24, 1982 and Hazel Juanita (Sigmon) Boggs, died June 4, 1993; his nieces, Damita Elston, died December 20, 1973 and Jennifer Lynn Boggs, died September 17, 1995; his nephew, Edward Grant Boggs, died December 12, 2009; his great-nephew, Trevor Kyle Boggs, died June 28, 1996; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Scudder and his brothers-in-law, Delbert Scudder, William Cook and Harold Cook.

Friends may call 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, March 30, 2018, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Masonic Services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2018, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 31, 2018, at 11:00 am, by Rev. C. Martin Justice at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Full military rites and interment will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 at the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Switzerland Baptist Church or Mr. Larry W. Boggs Endowment Fund % CFSCI. Cards are available at the funeral home.
